Call for lightning talks
The organizing committee of the 3rd International Day of Statistical Literacy (IDSL) Conference invites professionals and early-career academics to submit proposals for Lightning Talks! The conference theme this year is Statistical Literacy in the Age of Advanced Technology.
This is an opportunity to present innovative research, best practices, projects, or educational initiatives on statistical literacy to an international audience in a 4–5 minute presentation. The abstract submission deadline is 15 August 2026. We encourage you to share this call with colleagues and students.
Key dates include:
- 15 August 2026 — Abstract submission deadline
- 3 September 2026 — Notification of abstract acceptance
- 5 October 2026 — Full article submission (3–5 pages)
- 31 October 2026 — Notification of full article acceptance
- 17 November 2026 — IDSL 2026 Conference

Pre-Conference Workshop "Statistical Literacy: Teaching Confounding without Algebra or Computers"
For IDSL 2025, ISLP is happy to announce a Pre-Conference Workshop "Statistical Literacy: Teaching Confounding without Algebra or Computers" by Professor Milo Schield. A workshop designed for educators and students in non-quantitative majors, this workshop introduces a confounder-based approach to statistical literacy—no algebra, no computers.

International Day of Statistical Literacy 2025
After the big success of the first-ever online conference for the IDSL last year, ISLP is happy to announce IDSL 2025.
The free online conference takes place on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, from 10 am to 6 pm UTC (Universal Coordinated Time). The IDSL 2025 online conference is full of interesting presentations and a panel discussion.
IDSL 2025 also includes a session titled "Lightning Talks". During the "Lightning Talks" session, authors of selected abstracts can present their topics in 4 to 5 minutes each. If you are interested in giving a short talk on statistical literacy, please send your abstract by 12 November to islp.coordination@gmail.com for consideration by the IDSL Chair and Vice Chair. Authors of selected talks will be notified by 14 November (submissions are now closed).

IDSL 2024

The ISLP is happy to initiate the International Day of Statistical Literacy (IDSL) which will from now on be celebrated annually.
To inaugurate this new thematic day, you are most warmly welcome to the ISLP's first-ever, one-day online conference. The day is full of interesting presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, as well as a pre-conference workshop.

In addition to the 8-hour online conference, regional events will be organised to celebrate the International Day of Statistical Literacy. Country Coordinators who wish to organise regional events are invited to inform the ISLP Coordinator at islp.coordination(at)gmail.com .
