Three web-based apps have been developed in New Zealand as resources for teaching Official Statistics. They are described below, with links to each app. A recent report on the usage of the apps by John Harraway can be accessed here.

Measuring Price Change

Measuring Price Change focuses on the CPI, working with price indices, change of base, time series in connection with the CPI, moving averages, trends, seasonality, and policy uses.

Comparing Populations

Comparing Populations (over time, between countries and between groups within countries) includes aspects of demography such as fertility, mortality, migration, life tables, population pyramids, age standardisation, odds ratios.

Graph It In Excel

Graph It In Excel emphasises data presentation and gives instructions for the creation of simple graphs including boxplots and population pyramids.
