YEO Boon Wooi Joseph from Singapore, Yun Joo Yoo from South Korea, Lisa Grace Bersales from the Philippines and Kazuhiro AOYAMA from Japan. Bios YEO Boon Wooi Joseph (Dr) is a senior lecturer in the Mathematics and Mathematics Education Department at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He is the first author of think! Mathematics textbooks used in many secondary schools in Singapore and other countries. His research interests are on innovative pedagogies that engage the minds and hearts of mathematics learners, such as inquiry-based learning, ICT, and motivation strategies to arouse students’ interest. Dr Yeo is a member of the Editorial Board for The Mathematician Educator, an official journal of the Association of Mathematics Educators (AME), Singapore. He received the NIE Excellence in Teaching Commendation in 2012, 2017 and 2019, the NTU Nanyang Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2012, the NTU Nanyang Education Award (School) in 2020, and the NTU Nanyang Education Award (College) in 2021. He is also the Chairman of Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) Advisory Council, and the creator of Cheryl’s birthday puzzle that went viral in 2015. Yun Joo Yoo is a professor in the Department of Mathematics Education at Seoul National University. She also holds affiliated professorships in the Interdisciplinary Program in Bioinformatics, the Department of AI-Integrated Education, and the Master’s Program in Applied Data Science. Previously, she served as the head of both the Department of AI-Integrated Education and the Department of Mathematics Education. Professor Yoo's areas of expertise include biostatistics, statistics and data science education, and evaluation and measurement in mathematics education. She has published approximately 50 articles in renowned journals such as Nature Genetics, Bioinformatics, Genetic Epidemiology, the Journal of Educational Measurement, The Journal of Educational Research in Mathematics, and School Mathematics. Recently, Professor Yoo has focused on developing an online cognitive diagnostic test platform for mathematics (MathCoDi) and advancing AI and data science education. She also contributed to the development of the new AI mathematics curriculum for the Korean National Curriculum. Prof. Lisa Grace S. Bersales is a statistician in the Philippines, currently serving as the executive director of the Philippines’ Commission on Population and Development and undersecretary for population and development, and is professor emeritus of the University of the Philippines School of Statistics . She was the first national statistician of the Philippines and led the implementation of the Philippine Statistics Act of 2013 by starting the organization of the Philippine Statistics Authority which she headed from 2014 to 2019. Kazuhiro AOYAMA is an assistant Professor Of Mathematics Education Course, Aichi University of Education and a member of Japan Statistical Society (JSS) and Committee of Statistics Education. He is also a member of writers of Mathematics textbooks for elementary, Junior high, and high schools of Japan and the national course of study for elementary mathematics. |
