Professor D.S.Hooda did his M.A. (Maths.) from Delhi University in 1969 and M.Phil. from Meerut University, Meerut, in 1976. He joined CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar as a Lecturer in 1970 and was appointed Asst. Professor of mathematics in 1972. He did his Ph.D. from K.U. Kurukshetra, while remaining in service, in 1981. His field of specialization is Information Theory and its Applications and research interests are information measures, source coding, entropy optimization principles and their applications in statistics, finance mathematics and survival analysis, bounds on probabilities of errors and fuzzy information. He has published about 46 papers in various journals of National and International repute. He has authored four books in mathematics and one book on “Aryabhatta- his life and contributions”. He is General Secretary of Indian Society of Information Theory and Applications and Secretary of the International Forum of Interdisciplinary Mathematics. He has attended 31 national and international conferences and has visited seven foreign countries. He had been Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Kurukshetra University for a short span of time. Presently, he is engaged in teaching and research in Information Theory and its Applications in engineering and physical sciences.
