Iddo Gal lectures at the Department of Human Services, University of Haifa, Israel, and holds a PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the U. of Pennsylvania. Iddo teaches courses on quantitative research methods, service managment and customer complaints, and empowerment of workers and clients. Among other topics, his publications cover issues in the acquisition, teaching, and assessment of statistical literacy and of adult numeracy skills, adult learning, quality of informational materials created for clients by service providers, and service recovery issues. He co-edited with Joan Garfield "The assessment challenge in statistics education" (IOS Press /International Statistical Institute, 1997), and later edited "Adult numeracy development: Theory, research, practice" (Hampton Press, 2000). Presently he chairs the Numeracy Expert Group for OECD's Programme on International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC), and is a member of the International Statistical Literacy project (ISLP) of the IASE.
